The Catholic Church IS Liable

The court of appeal has ruled that the Catholic Church is liable for the wrongdoings of its priests.

A case brought by a victim of child rape (now in her forties) has been upheld by the court. Her lawyer stated:

“It is hoped that this ruling will now be accepted, and that victims of abuse by Catholic priests can be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.”

Of course in the best traditions of UK law this is not necessarily the final word. Leave to appeal has been denied until after a similar case goes to the Supreme Court later this month.

The church’s will take this all the way to the highest court they can, hoping that either the plaintiff runs out of money or they die before they can ever get any recompense. These are sick and evil institutions that will never truly accept how much damage they have done.
