Cardinal Keith O’Brien snubs talks with Scottish Government over marriage equality

Fine.

The Catholic church’s bigoted stance on this issue is clear. Why would the Scottish Government want to talk to him? He has nothing valid to say as his opinions on this matter come from faith, which is by definition an invalid position to take in the first place, and does not facilitate rational argument.

Carry on Scotland!

Indeed, why is anyone who profess’s belief in fantasy tales taken seriously, why should their opinion be given so much weight? Let them talk themselves into a corner, they show to everyone, by their stance on this and so many other matters, that they are no longer in tune with the vast majority of people and can be ignored.

My concern is that people like this still think they have some degree of moral authority over everyone else.

Firstly, if people want to get married (regardless or gender) what has that got to do with him and his ilk (it’s going to be a civil ceremony anyhow).

Secondly, what right does a man who has never had sex have to determine where humans stick their bits?

Finally, why should a sovereign nation listen to some old, joyless, petty and corrupt old man who sits on a throne elsewhere in the world?

Indeed, how can someone who supports a corrupt institution like the rcc ever try to claim the moral high ground, why should we pay any attention to a seedy little non-entity of a nation like the vatican and what people do with their sexual organs is up to them. If the religious don’t want a same sex marriage, fine, don’t have one!
