Unimportant Religion (2014 stats)
on: April 25, 2018, 17:40

I believe these statistics are from 2014 but are quite interesting....

As usual, all such statistics must be treated with great caution as in some polls there are atheists who say they believe in god and religionists who say they don't believe in god(s).

I think apathism is on the rise, though no stats for that yet..

Perhaps that is a better description of most non-believers.

Godless and free is a reasonable self-description of many non-believers...

One of the more controversial claims is that religious indoctrination of children, or "raising a child in the faith", or 'give me a boy under 7.." amounts to child abuse...

Certainly any mutilation of a child's genitals should be considered so and when you hear some people talk about "believing that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour" (and some people still do) it is easy to think 'child abuse' when no amount of reason, critical thinking or evidence can sway them.
