Irish blasphemy law campaign, 26th October 2018
on: September 17, 2018, 17:19

With six weeks to go to the referendum on 26 October, the campaign to remove the blasphemy law began on 15th Sept at a meeting in Buswells Hotel in Dublin.

Michael Nugent outlined the history of the law, and why it is important to vote yes to remove it. The Irish blasphemy law causes Irish media to self-censor itself, and it emboldens Islamic states that point to the Irish law to justify their own laws that persecute religious minorities.

Ashling O’Brien outlined campaign strategies to maximise the turnout and the yes vote. There was then a discussion about the initial work which will begin this week. If you want to help in any way please contact us. It is important that we remove this anachronistic and harmful law.
