Goodness Me, Goodness You - education in Ireland

Nurturing faith?!! And what in Hell is "sacramental education"?!

I went to Roman Catholic primary and secondary schools, I had "Religious Education" (another contradiction in terms) every week. I learned my catechism and went to mass every Sunday. I have no idea what "Sacramental education" is, though everyone knows what religionists mean by it. They wish to prattle-on about the importance of sacraments and other dogma. If they can't teach "sacramental education" in so-called "RC schools" how the hell is anyone else supposed to teach it? And what for?!!

Schools are for educating children - all children together, regardless of the superstitions of their parents. Religionists constantly try to use it to "spread The Word", deliver their "ethos" and other euphemisms for imposing their opinions.

How does one respect the person but not what they believe? That is the question worth asking, not "how do we spread sacramental education?"
