First sign of progress in Northern Ireland?
on: August 7, 2019, 12:44

It will be a long time before all the nationalist and religious tribalism is gone, but here's a sign that things can change...
The No More Faith Schools campaign has backed plans for a Catholic school to become the first in Northern Ireland to transform to integrated status.

Seaview Primary School in the village of Glenarm, in County Antrim, is to seek permission to give up its denominational status and teach pupils of all religious backgrounds.

The plans have the overwhelming support of parents, 95% of whom voted to support them last week, and have prompted a surge of interest from families keen on sending children to the school.

Now if only the political leaders would drop their ridiculous affiliations and just be people living in the North of Ireland they would get somewhere. The "Loyalists" need to drop the Unionist, Protestant identity and the Nationalists the separatist, Roman Catholic identity. Whether any part of Ireland (or anywhere else) is part of the UK is a simple matter of voting for the economic interests of everyone in the political unit, collectively. That is the change that's needed and it looks a long way off. Violence and prejudice need to be extinguished and the first necessity is to educate all the children together - and drop the superstitions and organised religions. Even most religionists acknowledge that religions are man-made, not god-given, and they still go to church and chapel!

End all faith schools now.
