Medieval countries should not be allowed into EU

Recep Erdogan - what a guy!

Hopefully this will be the final nail in the coffin of Turkey's aspirations to join the EU. We don't need or want a pseudo-theocracy joining us (Ireland and Italy aren't this bad are they?)

According to this article it appears that the RCC is in terminal decline in Ireland

For an insiders view you might want to look at the Atheist Ireland website

I love the quote from that MLA saying words to the effect that people who wish to be treated equally are, in fact, being intolerant of god botherers. Black is white and up is down in NI!

Having said that, I've spoken to a lot of Northern Irish people in the last 18 months and the unifying theme is that they are bemused and disgusted by the local politics. Unfortunately it is a characteristic of first-past-the-post voting systems that politicians feel the need to pander to moronic or angry minorities. If there had been a significant scientology community in Rochester, we could have expected Cameron and Farage to develop a sudden passion for the works of L Ron Hubbard.
